We regularly walk our dog in this area, and it's an eyesore. While not certain, it also seems to indicate that it has been an area where someone may have been camping out? Makes us uncomfortable having our daughters take walks there with our small dog.  Also concerned about anything dangerous on the ground by the boxes that could be stepped on and/or ingested by dogs or deer in the area. While I can't say they are the exact same ones, there have been boxes in this area for years.
