Description
Inconsiderate and damaging road construction crew.
The crew that is preparing SE 47th Place for road work has been cleaning the area around the road (great). however, for some reason, they decided that they couldn't be bothered to take care not to destroy private property and have no issues leaving large piles of debris on my yard.
Complaint 1:
I have had a "slow down, children at play" type sign at the top of the hill on my property for years. the worker clearly didn't like mine and decided to break it into pieces, push it down the hill and bury it under feet of debris. Photo attached. why? couldn't take 2 seconds to move it out of the way?
Complaint 2:
Similarly, and just a few feet away, the workers must have not seen the giant white stake with an orange flag sticking out of the ground because they decided to plow right over it and, also, bury it under a pile of debris. If only construction workers understood that it is illegal to move property line markers. Maybe they should get some training on how expensive land surveys are so that they would have some respect for why those stakes are there.
Complaint 3:
The aforementioned piles of debris. why did they decide that my steep hillside, just uphill of a building on my property should be the dumping zone for the debris they have collected? Not only did they ruin a nice ivy garden, they threw a bunch of material over the hillside which is very difficult to access. For context, the is isn't some forested area at the back of my property. This is my "front yard" and like 15ft from a building on my property. Dump your debris elsewhere! Or better, take it away. I shouldn't have to clean up their mess.
Complaint 4:
A little further down the road, they totally ravaged a hedge along the roadway. I get it, cut some branch back to make room for the equipment but did you have to leave it looking like the "red wedding" from Game of Thrones? Couldn't they have asked? I would have done a much cleaner and far, far less damaging job to the remaining plant. It's not like they needed it urgently - they've been doing road work for months.
Despite the sarcasm, this was not handled well at all. A tiny bit of effort on their part would have saved what will likely be hours of work, years of plant regrowth, and potentially hundreds of dollars. At the very least, they should reimburse me for the blatant destruction of the sign. They can buy it here: https://a.co/d/h96KsmP
