Description

I have a manhole cover in my backyard labeled DRAIN. A city worker told me it was privately owned, but after opening the manhole cover it really looks like it's part of the city sewer. See attached picture. It has a service ladder, which I've been told it wouldn't have if it was privately owned. Now that the manhole cover is off, I'd like someone from the city to take a look and either confirm it's city-owned and clean it out (since it's not draining properly), or confirm it's privately owned, in which case I will hire a contractor to deal with it. Apologies if I'm wrong about any of the above - I bought my house 2 years ago and I'm not familiar with catch basins, storm drains, etc. I'm mostly going off of what others have told me after they've looked at it.
