This is also a popular walking route for ~50 people per day because of the stairs at the top of the hill and public dock/beaches at the bottom. \n\nFast moving traffic: Speed limit is 30mph, but it is common to see vehicles traveling at 40mph+ in this portion of West Mercer.\n\nPoor visibility: Southbound drivers on W Mercer crest a small hill just before reaching this intersection. The pedestrian and driver cannot see each other until the car is <120ft away.\n\nInadequate stopping distance: A vehicle traveling at 30mph needs ~90ft of stopping distance to react and brake. However, a vehicle traveling >35mph needs more than 120ft to stop.
